Polk Audio PSW108 Subwoofer Demo

hey guys it’s Jerome jr. and this week
video I’m reviewing polk audio PS w108
power subwoofer this one is replacing
the envoy model already replaced that
will go model p SW 10 so here it is so
that’s the sub this is basically just a
revised version of the PSW 10 for
example you look everything is basically
the same it still comes in a nice black
with this grille same exact type of
come on anything has changed if I take
this gorilla the front side is black
instead of that ugly chrome which is
awesome another thing that differs from
the alcohol model is the port if you
guys watching this video I’m pretty sure
you’ve seen a bunch of videos about the
PSW 10 or read a bunch of stuff about
how they have port noise issues they
fixed it with this it’s no Portnoy issue
even if you push the sub really hard
which is great the power handling and
everything is the same this is a 100
watts max 50 watts RMS which definitely
doesn’t sound like a lot but it
definitely does hold his own which I was
surprised but you do have to give this
up sometime to break in basically just
playing lower notes for a while
took about about a week or two before it
starts sounding really good because the
first week I had it I honestly was gonna
return it I wasn’t happy my room is not
huge but it is a medium sized room and
it just didn’t produce any type of low I
thought was adequate even though it does
sound nice but just didn’t get along
this still is not the loudest thing out
there puts Tiffany’s more pronounced and
it sounds really good now then it’s been
playing for about a month you can
actually even work it a lot harder and
it seems like it’s doing it a lot easier
so let me go ahead and turn this around
and show you guys the ports on the back
or an input basically the same somewhat
as the p SW 10 but let me go ahead and
do it
alright guys this is the back side of
this up now I’m gonna start from the top
and work my way to the bottom of what
you see there so the first thing right
here is the volume that’s basically
gained don’t think of it as a value na
because you will blow this up the next
one over to it is the low-pass filter
you definitely don’t need to use that if
you have a receiver that have a
dedicated self out input I mean because
our output because it’s ready being
filtered on the way to the sub so if you
do have that option like I do you’re
gonna want to turn your low-pass filter
all the way to the furthest to the right
like I have mines and then you will just
plug your dedicated sub output from the
receiver into one of these line in
either the left or the right you
definitely don’t need to use a
two-to-one coaxial connection if you’re
using a dedicated subwoofer out
if not then yes you definitely will need
to this subwoofer is pretty cool for the
price range because it does have an auto
on function which means if it’s not a
note within the range the sub operates
it turns off once it sits it’s a sound
within that range it powers up
immediately and it actually comes on
seamlessly it’s no delay alright now if
I go play a song you’ll immediately come
on you won’t hear and skip a beat
really good it does have the phase right
there you can switch between 0 to 180
for me right now my set of 180 is
working perfect and then right here you
might wonder what this is this is
speaker level
inputs basically in outputs basically
this is for people to have like desktop
setups or actually how like a speaker
set up or receive it that don’t have a
dedicated somewhere out you still want
to subwoofer this sub is cool because
you can still rent it because you’ll
just feature left and right inputs from
your receiver or from whatever the
amplifier for your speaker’s is feed it
in here it will automatically filter it
out to lows for the sub to be able to
you know go ahead and power so that’s
cool so it does give you a lot of
flexibility on which way you want to use
this thing
but yeah that’s straightforward let me
go ahead and play a couple songs or
beats for you guys can kind of get to
see it and hear it I will say this
obviously I know that you won’t be able
to really hear exactly what Mike is
really good but it is not you know the
best but you’ll be able to get an
interpretation and you can decide on
your own
alright guys well I think I played
enough variation on beats that I have
Lohse for you can kind of get an idea of
how the sub sound sounds filling in the
gaps of where you know your main or
bookshelf speakers fall short on it does
a pretty good job at that even at the
power rating 8 it’s at it definitely
pushes the the sub really well that
build an app that it has now port noise
is really minimum unless you really
start pushing it really really hard but
at that point it might not even be the
port noise and may actually be you
bottling out this up this up sounds
really good low and medium in high
levels don’t a spec like floor shaking
window rattling house shaking types of
level of base from this up it just
doesn’t have the power handling the subs
just not at all designed to even
probably even do that even if it had
more power over although for with it’s
priced at normally like 189 mm I
wouldn’t take it for 189 week for it
going so definitely a on sale price at
129 that best I usually have it at or
$99 and yeah definitely it’s a ping for
your buck I’m only keeping it just
because of that reason because honestly
I want a little bit more up but for what
you can get this for a it works overall
this is a solid sub guys I would
recommend it over the PSW 10 if you
wanted to go cheap on Amazon and get
that one because WPS w10 have port noise
issues and we need to kind of look it up
for yourself but that basically sums up
this review guys if you have any
questions or anything like that
definitely throw it down in the bottom
make sure you hit like if you watch the
whole video I’m pretty sure you enjoyed
it right and subscribe for more content
lets me know that let me go ahead and
get more tech and do more reviews well
that’s the end of it you guys take care

Polk Audio 100-watt subwoofer

You have probably seen the many different reviews on Amazon about the Polk Audio 100-watt subwoofer. Some of them are good, some bad, and some just leave you wanting more from this high quality set of speakers. While many consumers will go with one brand, such as Polk, there are still some useful tips and guidelines that can help you pick out the best subwoofer for your needs. When checking out the specs on the box, or going head to head with the store sales person, here are some things that you should know when checking out this brand of speaker.

One thing that you should keep in mind when checking out the Polk Audio 100-watt subwoofer is that these speakers can be used in both the in-ceiling and the out-of-ceiling configuration. The in-ceiling configuration will require a second amplifier for power but is perfect for use with a surround sound system. If you are looking for a true surround sound experience then the in-wall is the best option. When you are looking at the specs on the back of the box, it is important to check the depth to make sure that it is deep enough to handle all but the smallest of bass notes. Some people have reported not being able to handle some of the deeper bass notes with the in-ceiling speaker system. The depth on the in-wall speaker will also vary greatly depending on the manufacturer and model.

The pros will also want to check price first and any discounts that may be available. Most of the time, the online stores and even the regular brick and mortar stores have some great prices on the Polk Audio 100-watt subwoofer. It is always best to comparison shop when shopping for high-quality speakers and no matter where you purchase them from, be sure to check price first so you get the best deal possible.

  1. This 10 inch sub was purchased to replace a 12 inch Velodyne sub in my main home theater setup. Initially, I assumed that this subwoofer would not perform as well as the Velodyne, but to my surprise, it performed admirably. Strong, intense, and rich bass that can fill a large living room. I’d be surprised if you could find a sub that performs this well for the price. We adore this product, and I’ve had it for over a year with no problems. We use this sub almost every time we watch TV or film.

  2. This subwoofer replaced an old Sony subwoofer and significantly improves the surround sound system.

I have it set to 50% benefit, and it completely fills the living room where it is located. It brings action movies to life.

  3. At this time, I’m disappointed because of the odd rattle at low frequencies and the inability to trace the source of the sound. Previous versions of a similar POLK model seemed to perform better. I’m still fiddling with the settings to see if I can get a better pitch.
