Polk Audio PSW10 Subwoofer Demo

be my review and opinion on the polk
psw 10 powered subwoofer
mostly for your home theater systems i
bought this over a year ago
i’ve listened to music movies you name
it on it
it’s time for me to give you a guys a
review give you the pros and cons
and we’ll hook it back up in the movie
play a little music and play a couple
movies through it
first off for 99
you cannot get a better sub now these
are normally
around 109 119 119 i think on amazon
right now
you can usually catch them on ebay for
or 109 now
the best bang for the buck uh this
cannot be beat
there’s no other 100 subwoofer out there
that i’ve tried or i’ve listened to
that has deeper tighter base than this
now of course you can get better subs
but in my opinion what i’ve
listened to i think you got to spend
about 250 dollars to get a better sub
sure if you pay another hundred dollars
you know you’re at two hundred dollars
i don’t think you’re going to get that
much better of a sub
i think you need either be satisfied
with this
or step up to about two fifty three
hundred dollar sub to actually
uh hear quite a bit of a difference
now a couple subs that i’ve heard in the
friends house um different music stores
when they’re plugged in they give a
little bit of a hum
and when you’re listening to music
really low they still have that
hum to them even when everything is shut
they’re still plugged into the receiver
and i have a hum noise to them i’m not
sure why that is
just certain brands like klitsch comes
to mind
has a low kind of hum to it this is
stone silent you do not hear any kind of
noise i
have these set up to automatically
they’re always plugged in
but they’re they’ll automatically turn
on as soon as i turn my amp on
i’ll show you on the back here there’s
an auto on button or off button
if you don’t want that feature to happen
but there’s absolutely no noise there’s
a small green light on the back
uh doesn’t light up much of anything
other than that you barely even notice
they’re there
as far as movies uh when there’s a
gunshot an explosion
something like that it hits you in the
chest and feels like it’s happened to
now i have a movie room that is 12 by 19
12 feet wide 19 feet long and i have two
of these in it and
i can cannot be any happier especially
for the money
now if someone could show me some great
subs that
you know maybe they’re 300 subs that
show me a real difference then maybe
i’ll upgrade someday
but i’m totally happy with them right
now so i’ll bring the camera in for a
closer look kind of give you guys a
little bit of a tour
around the sub and then we’re going to
go hook it back up
and check it out guys i’m just going to
pop the front grille off right here real
you guys can take a look at what the sub
looks like
and there’s let me show you the grille
real quick
it has a cool little polka audio logo at
the bottom
it’s a nice looking sub when you know
when it’s just kind of sitting off to
the side in your living room
and this does come in the black
and the like regular wood tone it’s the
only two colors i’ve seen it in
of course the other two sides are just
going to be solid black
and here’s where you’re going to have
all your connections
now you do have a volume and i usually
leave that
set at about 75 percent uh you got low
pass adjustment
here’s the auto on button i was telling
you about so since that’s on
it pretty much goes into like a shutdown
mode whenever i shut off my receiver
so that’s a pretty cool feature uh your
phase you’re at
zero 180 degrees and you got your line
ins for your
rca sub outs and you can also hook up
your speakers through here
run them through that way now
just to show you that i have had this
for a while
maybe you can see the manufactured date
right there may 2018.
so this isn’t something i just bought
and threw a review together
i’ve actually used this um for quite a
long time
now over here it is only a 100 watt
sub let me zoom in here so you guys can
see that
right there it’s only 100 watts and
it it really surprised me and how
uh this thing is i really don’t need
anything bigger
like i said my room’s 12 feet wide about
18 19 feet long
and with two of them in there it’s just
right it’s not overpowering
definitely not underpowering so that’s
pretty much the tour of the speaker
or the sub and we’ll hook it back
up and check out some sound alright guys
so here’s just a little bit of music
to show you some of the bass uh i’ve got
the sub set at about 75
and i got my receiver set at about 40
so that shows you some music bass
and i’m gonna pop in a movie and show
you kind of what a
good explosion looks like
all right for the movie scene this is uh
kind of at the beginning uh when they’re
fighting in that field
i’m going to set the camera next to the
sub and see how it sounds
somebody want to deal with that bunker
i’m closing in
so i gave you guys examples of both
music and movies and i can tell you for
99 i could not be any happier
i did look on ebay and they’re running
like 109
112 amazon had it for 119.
still a great buy i don’t think you can
find a better sub for the money
now i’m into a lot of products that are
the best
bang for the buck now sure you can get a
more expensive one
but are you going to have to pay twice
as much i’m in
for products that are good quality
well built at an affordable price and
that’s what this polk audio sub is
hopefully this video and demonstration
gave you guys some knowledge and
understanding of
whether you do want to buy this sub or
maybe you want to look at
a different sub if you need more bass or
you have a bigger room
maybe go with the 12 inch version of
poke audio
i’ve just been extremely happy with
their speakers i’ve used them in
my cars and in the home audio and
they’re just a great
bang for the buck speaker so hope you
learned something and found this video
informative and i thank you for watching

Polk Audio PSW10 Subwoofers

The company that brought you the legendary Polk Subwoofers is still at it again with a new line-up of products that puts even more performance out there for even the most discriminating consumer. The latest in Polk Audio’s audio offerings is the Polk PSW10. For consumers who demand more from their high-powered surround sound speakers, the Polk PSW10 is an excellent choice. Not only does it deliver true surround sound quality in a small and compact design, but it comes built with Polk’s multi-game winning Power tweeter system. Other features include a front-panel port for easy connection to any computer or head phone, and a front port that also works with microphones and headsets for hands-free operation.

The name “monitor” is particularly special to Polk Audio. For many years, the company has been synonymous with quality and innovation in home theater audio products. The original Polk Audio Monitor series, released in the early 1970s, heralded the arrival of the now-famous flat-walled speaker that put thin-streaming technology to work for the first time. The original Monitor series is still the most successful line that Polk Audio has created, with its sturdy, uniform tonal balance and clean, accurate tone.

Consumers looking for a new home theater system need to be aware of current market prices and deals, as well as the likely styles and colors they might like. Do your homework before you start your research: Check the latest price of similar speakers, along with those offered by competitors. Examine designs side-by-side and be aware of features such as surround-sound compatibility, signal processing abilities, power requirements, and additional equipment required. If you’re upgrading an existing system, do your homework on which specific speakers will best suit your needs. Polk Audio’s PSW10 subwoofers are a great example of durability and performance at an affordable price, so check the latest price of similar models and find out which version will suit you.

Portability is another key factor to consider when choosing a speaker. You need to consider how easy it will be to transport your new system. A good quality compact design takes up little space, so it should be no trouble to take with you from room to room. A word of caution: Most good value compact designs have an extremely deep, bass boost capability, so you may need to experiment with the depth settings to get a good level of sound reproduction.

Portability is important, but so is the sound quality. The powerful 10″ speaker of the Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer is made up of all-aluminium enclosure. The compact design takes up little space, so it should be easy to fit in a number of places, including your car. A good quality sealed box offers good portability without sacrificing bass.

All of the above mentioned factors can play a role in the quality of the subwoofer. You can easily reduce the distortions created by low frequencies by using suitable amp wattage. In addition, physical features such as portability will help you to take the subwoofer wherever you go and so to be used in many different situations. So, if you like to listen to music while jogging, dancing or performing, the Polk Audio PSW10 subwoofer is the right choice for you.

Polk Audio PSW10 Subwoofer FAQ

Polk Audio 10-inch subwoofer

Polk Audio 10-inch sub woofer is a perfect solution for anyone looking for high performance yet value-conscious home theater audio equipment. The 10-inch subwoofer from Polk has excellent sound quality coupled with its sleek, low profile design that will blend seamlessly into any room. Built on the latest technologies, the Polk Audio 10-inch sub woofer comes with a rigid polypropylene cone for better response and lower distortion. It also features an aluminum surround that is tightly wrapped around a powder-coated basket to provide a smooth finish. The basket is perfectly balanced to reduce any external noise which makes it the perfect home theater system.

Polk Audio has two models of their new Polk Audio 10-inch sub woofer with some variations between them. You can choose between the cupped plus dome styles, which are fitted with a single or dual banana leaf basket, respectively. The difference between the two is that the cupped style adds an external dome to increase the overall length and width of the speaker. On the other hand, the double banana leaf model has a single basket which is smaller than the one utilized in the cupped style, resulting in a tighter and lighter sounding subwoofer system.

There are also versions of the Polk Audio 10-inch sub woofer with a single or double banana leaf cell that has an optimized baffle for low distortion and maximum sound clarity. Some of these models use a precision-tuned port for portability without compromising portability. Portability is at the core of the concept of the Polk Audio subwoofer box speaker system as you can easily take it with you while going on long trips or going to the office. Another feature of this subwoofer is that it has a full warranty for a lifetime.

Polk Audio wireless subwoofer

The Polk Audio Wireless Subwoofer Portable Speaker System comes with a pair of wireless subwoofers. The subwoofers are firmly built into a slim carrying case and connect to the subwoofers with just a single cable. This makes it very easy to transport both the speakers and the cases when you need to take them on and off the airplane.

There are also other features in this product, such as a built-in Bluetooth connection for your iPod, and a built-in power port so that you don’t have to use an extra power outlet. Another great feature of the Polk Audio Wireless Subwoofer Portable Speaker System was the addition of two separate equalizers. These equalizers control the bass and midrange sounds in your music so that they are consistent all the way through your song.

  1. I had previously gone through three smaller 8″ subwoofers before discovering the PSW10. It was every bit as nice as they claim, and probably 200 percent better than anything I’d had before. I was so impressed with the musical success (tightness and accuracy) that I started saving money for something even better. Many audiophile forums reported that the SVS SB12-NSD was light years ahead of the PSW10, despite the fact that it cost five times as much. After breaking in my new SVS, I discovered that those claims were greatly inflated. The biggest difference, of course, is that as a 12”, it can hit a bone-rattling 15Hz, which I enjoy but may not be for everyone. For every other attribute, the PSW10 was 90 percent the efficiency of the SVS at a fraction of the cost. When I say 90 percent the standard, I mean I had to replay a bunch of songs with both subwoofers side by side and give a subjective 10 percent tighterness to the SVS. Perhaps some audiophiles consider the last 10% change to be night and day, but I simply refer to it as 10%, as in just really visible when compared side by side. In conclusion, I agree with several other reviewers that the PSW10 is a no-brainer. Nothing can compete with it at this price.

  2. Per their advice, I bought a PSW10 to go with my Vanatoo T0s. If you’ve heard their speakers, you can tell they know what they’re talking about. I was initially skeptical of the sound. I am very satisfied with the value after around 15 hours of break in and removing the rat guard (search for mods). It’s worth noting that the rat guard is no longer glued. And there seems to be more fill and wrapping of the cables internally than in previous photos I’ve seen. Excellent value. Because of the performance-to-value ratio, I give it a 4.5. This is clearly not a high-end sub, and you do not intend it to be. However, it is excellent for filling in the sound and adding some bump to music. Not dumb music, mind you, but decent high-quality audio. Yes, if you throw a bunch of super low tones at it and expect it to shake your bones for movies, it is not the right answer.

  3. This was purchased to supplement a pair of Yamaha NS-10M Studio monitors that I use when digitizing vinyl records in front of a computer screen. The Yamahas are fantastic, but they’re just 6″ in diameter and don’t have much bottom end. When I put the Polk subwoofer under my desk, it’s as if my little Yamahas are searching for the bottom of some rock album.

I prefer a tight, punchy bass for rock music and am not interested in the kind of home theater bass used to create explosions in superhero movies. I hate the muddy bass that most customers seem to want – I want a bass that makes you feel the kick drum in your chest even at low volumes, and this one does just that.

In terms of hookup, this one is well suited for use in a stereo. You connect your amp’s speaker wires to the subwoofer, which has a variable crossover that determines which frequencies to play through the subwoofer and which to route to your main speakers, which are linked by another set of speaker wires. The Polk is driven, so you can adjust the volume of the subwoofer in relation to the main speakers. It took me a few minutes of experimenting with the crossover and volume to get settings that work well, and these don’t need to be changed as you change the overall volume of your amp.
