Klipsch Reference R-10SW Subwoofer Demo

I’m about to open the box for this clips
reference series are – 10 it’s a 10 inch
front firing subwoofer and so we’re
going to be I’m going to be opening the
box and kind of show you the contents
and then give you a little bit of a
review of what I think the things sound
ends up sounding like alright so I’ve
cut the top of the box open and so right
on the top we’ve got a little user’s
manual and beyond that we get the
obligatory styrofoam and then the
subwoofer itself is obviously wrapped up
and so it’s going to take both of my
hands to get this out of the box and so
let me get it out of the box and I’ll be
back so got it out of the box and
unwrapped and so we have poor lighting
in here obviously let me see if I can
spin this thing around so we can take a
look at the back of it so we have looks
like a couple of switches we’ve got some
of the inputs and then some gain knobs
and then plus you have the here is the
power cord so look all in all looks very
simple so the next step is to kind of
glance through the owner’s manual and
get it plugged in and adjusted
so I have installed the subwoofer in my
small home theater room I have a 720p
Chinese projector that I’m going to be
reviewing separately where that’s an 80
inch screen right there but anyway I
wanted I’m watching a show on Netflix
I’m going to turn the volume up I don’t
know how well the base is going to come
across in this video but I’m going to
turn it up to let you hear it
now mankind is about to pay the highest
price ever in our quest for energy
a battle over oil drives America to
develop an unleash a new energy source a
b-29 bomber named the Enola Gay flies
over the Pacific toward its target Japan
it’s cargo the Moses okay so that’s
that’s enough fetched give you an idea
I’ve got this a relatively small room
it’s about nine by maybe thirteen
thirteen and a half something like that
but this ten inch subwoofer it does a
really excellent job of delivering
really good low bass performance

  1. Subwoofers are extremely difficult to choose based on ratings. This is due to the fact that different customers search for different products.

I’ve been a rock guitarist since the early 1960s. That might lead anyone to believe that I want a lot of bottom end.

In a way, I do. I’m interested in whatever was added to the mix.

To me, the perfect sound is what the engineer heard in the studio.

And here’s the deal, people. That’s not boom. It is close and percussive in almost every case (on a well-made recording). A very different sound from, say, something heard through the windows of several teenagers’ cars. Or from what was once known as a “boombox.”

Klipsch Reference R-10SW is a musical speaker. It’s a squeeze. In other words, it is right. And, yes, those things can be heard at a very high volume level.

And it is extensive. But for a pipe organ, this is as deep and as loud as one wants to accurately replicate something.

I purchased one of Klipsch’s refurbished ‘B-stock’ models. It appears and functions as if it were brand new. It arrived easily. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Highly recommended. Unless, of course, you prefer “boom.”

  2. I had a Polk PSW10 for many years and really liked it. I was recently able to buy additional Klipsch speakers, which are completely awesome! This sub just blended in so well with the other Klipsch speakers that the sound I get is simply powerful….how do you describe a sound?!?! The subwoofer will thump… not a problem, but you can hear and feel it while watching movies. My Klipsch Reference speakers all sound fantastic and can get very loud while remaining transparent and distortion-free. The subwoofer works so well with them that it fills the room with a beautiful, complete tone. I adore this sub, I adore Klipsch, and I have nothing but respect for the business. The subwoofer is fantastic for watching movies, listening to music, or simply watching TV! It’s a ‘no-brainer’ to pair it with other Klipsch speakers!!

  3. After reading some of the negative feedback claiming that this sub was inferior to the r-110SW, I decided to give it a try. I was on the verge of canceling my order. I tested the sub today after it arrived. Oh my goodness. It’s fantastic! I’ve got to keep the volume knob turned down to about 10%. That’s how loud it is.

It’s hooked up to an Onkyo TX-RZ820 and 5 old Bose surround speakers.

If you’re a real audiophile with a $3000 receiver and a $2,000 package of surround speakers, this might not be the sub for you. This is your sub if what you want is something to make your music and movies sound amazing.
