8-inch Subwoofer Review

The 8-inch subwoofer is one of the most popular types of home theater accessories that you can buy. There are many reasons why this particular size is so popular, but perhaps one of the most important is that it gives your home theater with a complete sound system.

When it comes to choosing a 8-inch subwoofer, there are actually three types you can choose from: full range, crossover-free, and sealed-box subwoofers. Each one of these categories has advantages and disadvantages depending on your needs, so let’s take a look at each one.

A full range 8-inch subwoofer is ideal for people who are looking for the highest quality sound possible. This is not the best choice for the home owner because it will require a separate power amplifier. However, if you have a good source of electricity (such as your television) and some decent speakers then it can be very easy to do without the additional equipment.

These kinds of subwoofers are called wide range because they cover a wide frequency range. They will work great in almost any kind of home theater setting. On the other hand, most people don’t really enjoy bass and this type of subwoofer is not suited for bassheads. However, if you like the sound of deep bass then you may be happy with a wide range subwoofer.

On the other hand, crossover-free 8-inch subwoofers work by separating the subwoofer coils. Most people find these more expensive than the standard subwoofers, and they don’t give the highest quality sound. If you are going to purchase one of these, you may want to consider getting a good sound system first. Then you can add a crossover-free subwoofer later.

Sealed box subwoofers are usually the cheapest option. They will generally give a good bass output and they’re perfect for people who like to listen to their music in a confined space. The disadvantage to these kinds of subwoofers is that they are not very portable, and they tend to sound tinny in a lot of situations.

Before making a purchase of any 8-inch subwoofer make sure you check out what kind of subwoofer will work best in your home. It will depend on a few things like the size of your room, the kind of speaker you want to buy and where you plan to put it. Once you have all of these details in mind then you should be able to get a good idea of the best type of subwoofer for you.

If you’re trying to get a high quality sound system with some good bass then getting a good pair of stereo speakers is important. However, if you want the lowest amount of bass then you should consider using a 8-inch sealed-box subwoofer. A sealed box subwoofer is essentially a larger version of a crossover-free subwoofer because the subwoofer coils are sealed inside. They will give you the best combination of a good bass output and low bass.

There are a number of 8-inch subwoofer models on the market so it can be hard to decide which one will be the best for your needs. It’s a good idea to spend some time online browsing the different websites of the companies that manufacture them. There are a number of sites that will offer advice and tips about what kind of subwoofers you should purchase.

8-inch Subwoofer Buyer’s Guide

Dual 8-inch subwoofer box

A subwoofer is a vital component of a high quality audio system. Some subwoofers are suitable for outdoor or indoor use only. There is an extensive sound range from subtle to powerful and everything in between. This type of product will give you the advantage of customizing the bass and other frequencies that you desire.

This brand of subwoofers come with the perfect blend of superior performance and technology. These are not your basic rectangular boxes anymore. Dual surround sound subwoofers are now available in shapes and sizes that will satisfy all tastes and needs. One model has a dual woofer with tweeters that are closely located to reinforce the bass and eliminate low frequencies. There are also models with dual woofers in the front and an extra tweeter mounted on the rear. If you are a person who enjoys a lot of low frequencies, you can choose a subwoofer that mounts further back and allows you to place the woofer closer to the listener.

When it comes to customizing your home theater experience, these types of subwoofers will provide you with endless possibilities. You can mount them on walls, use them as a bookshelf or even place them on a stand. You will be able to enjoy the benefits of dual surround sound without having to change out your existing speakers.

8-inch free air subwoofer

With the advent of technology, it is now possible to have a complete home entertainment system with subwoofers in a relatively small size called the 8-inch free air subwoofer. A typical enclosure for a subwoofer is usually a 3-inch by 6-inch box. But in the case of a subwoofer that is at the smaller end of the scale, the enclosures need not be anything more than a standard size hard-side cabinet with straight lines and clean finish. The ideal home theater system should contain an eight-inch subwoofer for good bass sound reproduction. If you are planning on building your home theatre system, it is best to use a box that has a mid-range frequency response and tone.

Free-air subwoofers are built for specific reasons. The first reason is the power handling capability. Each subwoofer is rated by its wattage and as a rule, the larger the speaker the more power it can handle. For this reason, it is always good to build a system that will handle power and the frequency response requirements of each individual subwoofer. If you build a system without first considering these factors, you may find yourself disappointed with the low quality output from your subwoofers.

Another important factor to consider when choosing a subwoofer is its power handling capability. The power handling of an eight-inch free air subwoofer will be specified in the specifications sheet of the vehicle where it is to be installed. If you plan on building your home theatre system, you can expect to get a power handling range of about twenty-five hundred watts to about thirty-five hundred watts. An eight-inch subwoofer that has a specification of about twenty-five hundred watts is ideal for a home theatre system that uses a DVD player because it has sufficient power to handle the extended frequency response required for a DVD movie. A power handling capability that is too high or too low may cause undesirable results, so it is best to know what wattage range your particular subwoofer will need. When planning your home theatre system it is also a good idea to keep in mind that most speakers will need to be placed in a specific direction in order to optimize sound output.

8-inch car subwoofer

The world of car audio and music in general has evolved over the last decade and now includes a technology called the “8-inch car subwoofer”. This type of subwoofer is used mainly for car audios and other such purposes. They are normally installed in the car’s main speaker mounts in order to provide the best sound quality. Most of them come with crossovers which are engineered to take the best of all the frequencies, resulting in a perfect low-frequency output. The crossover is also carefully tweaked in order to maintain the best high and mid-frequency response that can be provided.

The 8-inch car subwoofer has a very impressive RMS wattage of 200 watts RMS, which is quite an impressive output considering that it is equivalent to some of the large sized speakers available in the market. The speaker is also finely tuned to ensure excellent high and mid-frequency sound reproduction, thereby ensuring a clear bass effect. The frequency response is quite a competent 38 Hz, 200 Hz, which makes for a very crisp all round soundscape regardless of what music you play. When you add a good set of speakers and a competent amplifier, you will be able to enjoy some mind-blowing bass effects that will have your friends screaming for more.

One of the major features of this kind of subwoofer is its innovative design called the Planet Audio Air Series. The air series’ concept is nothing new, but the delivery method is quite novel. Planet Audio uses a patented technology which involves utilizing giant foam surround panels on all sides of the woofer, which effectively reduces the overall size and weight of the subwoofer by half. Due to these developments, the 8-inch car subwoofer from Planet Audio is now lighter and smaller while still maintaining the same powerful performance as its predecessors.

Shallow mount 8-inch subwoofer

A shallow mount subwoofer is a subwoofer that mounts low to the ground, usually about six inches below the vehicle’s floor. This keeps the subwoofer well out of the way when you are driving and still lets it do its job because the woofer is closer to the listener, which results in a better sound quality. They are a great choice for people who don’t want to deal with tall speaker cabinets or for those who just can’t fit a big sub into the tight spaces in their cars or other vehicles. Shallow mounts can also save you some cabinet space if your vehicle has limited interior space.

The shallow mount 8-inch subwoofer will produce deep bass, but it will not have the deep, thunderous bass of a deep-outfitted factory speaker. But, it will still be very powerful and will project sound far above the average listener’s hearing range so you can feel the thump, slam, and boom when you’re listening. You won’t feel the intensity of these powerful bass frequencies until you are sitting directly behind the speaker, which means you won’t be distracted by the sound of the subwoofer being so close to your head.

If you choose a subwoofer like this, you may want to add a sealed box to go with it if you don’t want to put an enclosure on it. A sealed box will take the pressure off the woofer while you’re driving so you’ll get the best performance from it. A shallow mount subwoofer comes with a box that has a pre-drilled hole for mounting it in a car, but you can also buy a ready-made one separately. With this type, all you need to do is stick it in your car’s stereo slot. A pre-drilled hole for a shallow mount subwoofer is found on the rear of the enclosure and then it is fastened with stainless steel clamps. These clamps also make it easy to remove the subwoofer for cleaning or replacing parts.

  1. Let me begin by saying that this was a fantastic upgrade from the stock blown factory sub in my suburban! As it would not fit directly, it had to be spaced out a half inch, so I used the ring from my stock blown sub that had the dust net that covered the speaker as a spacer and mounted it. I suggest bridging the sub’s two attachment sides, negative to negative and positive to positive, from 4 to 2 ohms, as my suburbans factory sub was 2 ohms. That factory sub ring did an excellent job of spacing it. I reinstalled all of the panels and found that the new sub was barely reaching the panel grill, so I decided to perfectly cut out the panel grill and add a 10 inch sub grill to the panel for aesthetic purposes. It works well, sounds fantastic for an 8-inch sub, and makes a huge difference!

  2. I purchased this to replace the subwoofer speaker in my original Klipsch Promedia 2.1’s. The initial Klipsch sub was displaying its age in the way the cone material disintegrated. Not bad for a sound system that has been in continuous use since the early 2000s!

I wanted to give this one a shot after doing some testing. I have a new amplifier that is much more powerful than the stock internal Klipsch amp, so I needed something that could certainly handle it.

Installing the subwoofer is similar to installing every other speaker:
    1. Take out the rusty, broken speaker.
    2. Install the latest one.
    3. Attach the wires to the connectors by soldering them together.
    4. Connect everything and let it rip!

For a subwoofer of this size, I’d say this thing packs a punch! When it comes to running the bass, it is not a slouch. In reality, I’m thinking of making a custom backplate for the sub-box because it’s trying to push air out of every crevice in the back, resulting in a whistling sound when it hits. This is NOT the product’s fault, but rather the result of my own shoddy workmanship. This would have been a non-issue if I had taken more time to properly re-seal the box after changing it to fit with my amp.

The fit inside the Klipsch box is nearly perfect; the only caveat I can give is that reattaching the speaker grill will require some effort. This machine, unlike the one everyone is routing as a direct replacement, does not provide the tight fit needed to simply wedge the grill back into position. This isn’t a problem for me because I keep the device pointed away from everything that might reach it. However, with anyone else doing the same thing, this might be a deal breaker.

Overall, I am still pleased with the product. Maybe someday I’ll build it its own custom box, properly this time, and see what it’s capable of. I’m already happy with it the way it is.

  3. This subwoofer fit perfectly in my Lincoln Mark LT’s factory spot. Excellent sub for its size; manages the power from the Rockford Fosgate R500X1D amp admirably. Its 8″ size won’t shake the doors off your car, but its tight bass will add great depth to your sound. Consider constructing a custom enclosure and adding a second P3SD2-8 for those moments when you just want to shake the doors. For the price, this is an excellent speaker.
