Red Honey Bring A Raw And Vintage Flavor Out Of The Asheville Music Scene

Red Honey Bring A Raw And Vintage Flavor Out Of The Asheville Music Scene

Artist: Red Honey
Review Type: Track Review
Genre: Blues Rock

The Review: 3.5 / 5 – Good

Bearing a sound dubbed as the secret love child of Johnny Cash and Grace Slick, Red Honey embodies a sound both nostalgically vintage and hauntingly catchy.

The band came together in 2011 as an evolution of Erika Jane & Remember the Bees? “Music that puts you in the mood for the no-no-cha-cha”, winks Erika Jane who writes, sings and plays guitar on most of the numbers Her rich vocals are supported by the intriguingly timely beats of Jarrod Perkins, rich bass lines of JonPaul Hess and leads of Jacob Waller.

Bang Bang is a track that sums up the full spectrum of what Red Honey channels musically. There is a raw grittiness to Jane’s soulful vocals and a hauntingly slow cadence in drummer Jarrod Perkins’ beat that makes this track resonate to the listener’s core. Vintage guitar tones and simple yet crisp bass lines round out the track. Scroll down and give it a listen!
