Bob Marley on the big screen? Cool. Bob Marley streaming on Facebook? Very cool!
Tuff Gong Pictures announced today that Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald’s all encompassing documentary about the legendary reggae superstar will hit theaters on April 20th.
The film is simply titled “MARLEY”.
Also noteworthy is the fact that this will be the first U.S. release to ever be made available for streaming via Facebook the same day as its theatrical release.
Using the Social Cinema technology from Milyoni, Facebook account holders will be able to instantly watch “MARLEY” streaming from the official Bob Marley Facebook page. Social Cinema provides fans with a shared, social viewing experience with the ability to chat with friends, answer questions and share favorite clips.
The film is rated PG-13 and to view the stream will cost $6.99 via PayPal or by credit card.
A portion of the proceeds from the film’s Facebook sales will benefit the charity organization Save the Children.
Made side-by-side with support from immediate members of Bob’s family, “MARLEY” is the first film to tell the definitive life story of the musician, revolutionary and legend – from his earliest days to his rise to international superstardom.
Along with an incredible soundtrack, the film features rare footage, archival photos, incredible performances and interviews with Marley’s family, friends and bandmates.
