In the small town of Putney in Vermont in the east of the USA is the Center for Chamber Music “Yellow barn“. Thousands of musicians and fans of classical music from all over the world come to the concerts and festivals every year. And for especially gifted composers, conductors and musicians (including ensembles), an art residence operates throughout the year, the purpose of which is joint international projects, recordings of albums and performances at US concert venues. Participants in the art residence receive unlimited access to studios, rehearsals, and attend lectures and master classes of famous musicians and music teachers. Sometimes “Yellow Barn” publishes in advance a list of projects that the organizers want to implement with the participation of young musicians.
Requirements for applicants: higher musical education and description of the project.
Conditions: Organizers (in addition to “jobs”) provide accommodation, pay a meal allowance, help with visa processing and partly incur transportation costs.

In the ancient town of Visby, whose entire territory is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, the International Center for Musicians has been operating on the island of Gotland in Sweden since 1997. Visby aims to support young composers from around the world. Annually dozens of the most talented candidates get an opportunity to work in modern studios, visit master classes and realize their projects. The organizers send participants of the art residence to international festivals, concerts and conferences so that they can present their work there. During his stay at the Center, composers are working on their project (album, opera, musical, etc.), creating joint concert programs and gaining valuable experience and knowledge.

Conditions: Participants are accommodated in a villa located in the center (individual rooms), assistance with visa processing. The resident pays food and transportation expenses on his own.

Art-center «Headlands» (San Francisco, USA)
The American Art Center “Headlands” is located in a picturesque place – in the recreation park “Golden Gate” near San Francisco. Talented and young writers, photographers, directors, artists and musicians are invited to the art-residence. Annually 45 people from different countries of the world visit “Headlands” and create their new works there: paintings, books, songs, music albums and much more. Upon termination of stay in an art, residence participants present the commission’s projects. The best works receive additional prizes and support from organizers, managers and producers-partners of the organization. Participants are provided with everything necessary for work: studios, rehearsal, editing, all the required equipment and materials.
Requirements for applicants: description of the project, profile higher education is not necessary, but will be a plus.
Conditions: Organizers pay all expenses, including transportation. Art-residence participants are provided with a separate room on campus, meals and a monthly scholarship of $ 500. Participants are also assisted with a visa.
Duration: 4 to 8 weeks.
How to apply: Acceptance of applications begins on April 19 and will last until June 3. The period of stay in the art residence – from May to November. Civitella Ranieri Foundation (Umbertide, Italy)
The Civitella Ranieri Foundation, founded by Italian philanthropists, businessmen, musicians and writers, annually receives creative youth from all over the world in an art-residence in the commune of Umbertide in the central part of Italy not far from Florence. In the old castle of the XV century, young musicians and composers create new musical works and joint projects within several weeks. Styles and genres are not important: in the art-residence are involved both classical musicians and creators of modern music. In four six-week residences, 12-14 people take part in the year. The participants are provided with studios, rehearsals, the assistance of sound engineers and music teachers. In addition to musicians, the Foundation also accepts writers and artists for participation.

Conditions: Art-residence participants are provided with a separate room in guesthouses next to the castle, food and a weekly scholarship of $ 175. Also, the organizers partially pay for transportation costs and help with the issuance of a visa.
Duration: 4 to 6 weeks.
How to apply: Free-form statements, project descriptions, summaries, examples of works, education documents and recommendations are accepted annually by December 31 via email@example.com. In January, the commission will select candidates for each session (from May to October) and in February conduct remote interviews on Skype.
Taipei Artist Village (Taipei, Taiwan)
“Artist village” in Taipei is one of the most important cultural centers of China, where thousands of creative people from all over the world come together. Annually, the art-residence at the “Artist village” receives about 100 writers, photographers, directors and musicians. Each candidate who has passed the selection independently determines the duration of his stay in the art residence. During this time, the participant must provide any work created under the guidance of teachers and specialists. In the main building-mansion, there are studios, rehearsal rooms, workshops and everything else that can be necessary for participants when working on an individual or joint project.

Conditions: Art-residence participants are provided with accommodation in the dormitory at the art center, food and a small weekly allowance. The applicant incurs transportation costs.

Art-residence «Meduse» (Quebec, Canada)
“Meduse” is a large creative organization in Canada, or, in other words, art space, one of the main in the country. Young and talented composers, musicians and sound engineers from different countries annually come here to create a new project under the guidance of experienced teachers and specialists. In the complex of the art center, consisting of 9 buildings, there are dozens of studios and rehearsals, where the participants work at any time of the day or night. Well-known New York art center “Omi” invites from 10 to 15 musicians and composers from all over the world every summer to their art-residence. The Art Residence is located in a picturesque location – Hudson River Valley’s Columbia County, two hours from New York.
