Abandoned Social Network, Myspace, Set To Broadcast The Hangout Music & Arts Festival

This is not a joke. Myspace will broadcast The Hangout Music Fest this weekend.

In a bid to lure former site users back to the once cutting edge social network, it seems as though you will even be required to login to view the stream.

Though its well worth doing if your not attending the festival- this really seems like a lost cause for Myspace. Frankly, we think they would be better off if they charged but that is their call- as music fans, none of us will turn down free live streams!

And heck, maybe now we will just watch Flogging Molly from the comfort of our beachside condo instead of dealing with the potential moshpit…

Producers of the festival released an announcement that said: “When tickets sold out so quickly, we knew we had to do something to share the festival to a wider audience. Thanks to Myspace, music fans that can’t make it to our party in person can still join in the fun.”

As the exclusive distribution partner, Myspace will broadcast select performances live and on-demand, beginning Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20 at www.myspace.com/hangoutmusicfest

Additional performance footage will be shared on select Hangout artists’ Myspace pages.
