i’ve only had for about
a couple of months now it was a receiver

little items that tend to be the first
component in a home theater system to

end model this time
so the size on this is definitely
smaller than a lot of receivers
height wise fits the average component

Sony STR-DH790 Receivers

Sony’s new THX certified STR-DH790 receiver is a great addition to their lineup of high quality home theater products. If you’ve been searching for the perfect home theater receiver with all the THX preamps, digital receivers and premium audio capabilities, this is the receiver for you. Not only does it have all the standard audio functions like line in, movie record, pause, rewind, fast forward, and replaying a movie, it also has special THX technology which brings true sound quality to your movies. And, as we’ve found with other Sony products, it has an extremely good picture and sound quality.

In order to get the most out of your Sony STR-DH790 receiver, it’s recommended that you use a cable for both the TV and surround sound. While some people are content with just one receiver and enjoy connecting their TV to their computer via a USB cable, many people would rather have two receivers instead. By using a single cable for both devices, you can ensure that there is no interference between the two devices. There is nothing worse than a dead zone between your satellite receiver and your LCD screen. With the THX anti-aliasing filter included in your Sony STR-DH790 receiver, you will get the best possible graphics when watching any sort of media including HDTV.

There are a great many receivers on the market that will allow you to integrate your existing speaker system seamlessly with your LCD or plasma screen. If you’ve been shopping for speakers and haven’t been able to choose between the different brands, you owe it to yourself to check out the Sony products. The quality is excellent and you will be able to get the best quality sound from your speakers without having to replace them. By adding in the built in multichannel output feature on the Sony STR-DH790 amplifier, you’ll be able to enjoy excellent audio while watching your favorite videos.

There is nothing better than enjoying an award-winning movie from the comfort of your own home. You may want to take your family along for the experience or invite your friends over for a night of quality viewing. You’ll be able to get the best viewing experience out of your current video equipment when you connect your receiver to your HDTV and speakers using the THX Certified Digital Video Recorder (DVR) software package. You’ll get crystal clear pictures and sound from your Sony STR-DH790 with built in pan and zoom. You’ll also be able to control what you’re watching with the remote so that you can limit yourself to what you want to see or only focus on the action.

For people who use their televisions as the main source of entertainment, a receiver with a picture-in-picture feature is essential. You can use this feature to place the television screen at the eye level so that you can have a much clearer picture. With a bigger screen to watch, you can multitask and view multiple programs at the same time. This is important if you work in an office setting or need to be doing more than one thing at once. You can have great audio quality on top of all of this with the THX Premium sound system, featuring satellite radio, DVD quality sound, and game features like surround sound.

You’ll also love the video features offered on the Sony STR-DH790 receiver. It allows you to instantly upload your favorite videos to your hard drive. You can even send them to other users on your network via e-mail. Viewing photos is easier than ever when you have the HD camera included on the Sony STR-DH790 experience. With high definition, clear pictures you’ll want better chances at catching those elusive perfect shots.

Sony STR-DH790 Receiver FAQ

Sony surround sound receiver

If you’re considering a home theater system but don’t know quite where to begin shopping, you might want to consider purchasing a Sony surround sound receiver to take you beyond the capabilities of your average television screen. A quality Sony surround sound receiver can make all the difference when it comes to watching movies in your home theater. There are dozens of different brands and models to choose from, so how do you know which one is right for you? Purchasing a high quality surround sound receiver that is compatible with your home theater should be one of the first decisions you make when shopping for this type of audio equipment.

You can’t go wrong by purchasing a Sony surround sound receiver audio control center, especially if you are looking to include more speakers in your design. These devices come in a variety of sizes and can easily be mounted on the wall for optimal use in the home entertainment area. Most are equipped with true digital signal processing for true surround sound quality. Some models will even have built-in Wi-Fi capability to allow easy access to your home theater system.

The Sony surround sound system series features two different kinds of surround speakers-phones and speakers. A favorite of many consumers is the sony wcdm-hdmi i-pod surround sound headphones with subwoofers. These headphones will work perfectly with your Sony surround sound AV receiver and the included cable. It is also possible for consumers to purchase an audio control center with built-in speakers, but this option is often not recommended due to the limited number of inputs available. When shopping for your Sony surround sound receiver, be sure to consider options that are most convenient for your own particular home theater set-up.

Sony 4K receiver

Before I discuss what to look for in a Sony 4K receiver, let me quickly tell you what a 4K TV is and how it differs from a normal TV. A normal TV is just a flat panel screen placed on your TV stand or entertainment center with a thin veneer of glass placed over the pixels. A 4K TV, by comparison, is a special screen made from a series of small pixels (hence the “sharp” part) that are placed close together in order to produce the super sharp pictures we all have been looking for. Because of their special properties, these screens are much more efficient and have a much longer life span than ordinary televisions.

The Sony 4K receiver we will be discussing in this article has features that measure up to an astounding metric compared to normal televisions. For example, an ordinary television has less than ten thousand pixels, which is a pretty good number by normal standards, but a SED surround sound processor, full HD video compression and the ability to display true digital picture quality. If you were to hook up a normal TV to a computer and attempt to do the same things as the ones described above, you would most likely end up with a computer generated image quality, not the crisp and clear HD picture quality you get with a Sony 4k receiver.

In addition to the aforementioned technologies, the receiver also features what is called a leading control interface. The leading control interface allows you to control your television and connect it wirelessly with the internet. This is a very convenient feature that makes connecting your television to the internet so much easier. And finally, another great feature present in a Sony 4k receiver is called the ethernet switch. With the help of an ethernet switch, your television can be connected to your wireless network without having to use a USB cord. Not only does this make the process of connecting your television to the internet easier, but it also means that your television can be hooked up wirelessly if you so choose to do so.

3 verified buyer reviews
  1. This is a decent audio/video receiver for the money. It flawlessly passes 4K signals and I’ve never had any “lip sync” problems with it. My biggest gripe is that the instruction manual does not explicitly explain the various audio settings, and it appears that it sometimes reverts to an inappropriate environment, such as two channel stereo instead of 5.1. That’s probably something I’m doing incorrectly as a result of the inadequate instruction manual. I agree with the other reviewers in that the automatic audio calibration does not appear to provide me with optimal settings. I’ll have to keep experimenting with it to see how I can improve it. Nonetheless, I believe it is an excellent buy.

  2. I had been putting off updating our older 5.1 receiver for a long time because it worked well. But I finally caved and bought this one, and holy cow it syncs perfectly with the TV/hdmi/ARK, making it seem seamless and working beautifully.

I used to have all of the inputs going into the TV and just the sound going to the receiver, but I swapped all of the inputs into the receiver and only a single video cable going from the ARK-out of the receiver to the TV, and it’s a perfect setup and everything works fine!

When you click the show button on the remote control, it displays on the screen which speakers are in use as well as the audio format and quality, which is very useful.

And, with the amp button right on the display, you can quickly change all of the speaker levels.

  3. This is the first AV receiver I’ve ever purchased. This one was chosen because it was the cheapest 4k receiver that supported Dolby Atmos, costing just $200. I’m connecting this to a monitor, so I don’t need chromecast or whatever is included in the $500 models. I have a pair of 5.1 Pioneer speakers from my old PS3 and Xbox 360 audio rig that are 10 years old. I connected them to the Sony receiver, and what a difference a receiver can make. Those Pioneer speakers sound a lot better. In terms of sound quality, I award it an A. One thing I don’t like is that when I adjust it to FM radio, it switches off the hdmi output of whatever device you’re using and goes to the radio tab. It’s connected to my machine. I can’t browse the web and listen to the radio at the same time. In addition, I have a $200 sound card in my PC. As compared to the GPU hdmi, the sound card produces better sound. I’ll be listening to music and playing games with my sound card, but for truhd and atmos, you’ll need to use HDMI. I’m glad I chose this over the Logitech Z906. I was on the verge of purchasing the Logitech. I’ve been using it for over ten hours and the heat it emits is barely perceptible. I believe my breath generates more heat than it does.
