Denon AVR-X7200WA Receiver FAQ

Denon surround sound receiver

The Denon surround sound receiver is a great entertainment center piece that is capable of providing us with top quality audio components in an all-in-one unit. I have been a big fan of many of their surround sound products and this one has a lot of nice features that I enjoyed. This receiver also gives you a lot of freedom in how you set up your home theater system because of the easy controls on the front panel. I especially like the easy to use left and right back surround sound buttons as they make controlling your home theater easy and hassle free. If I were to recommend this receiver to someone it would be to someone who has a big entertainment center that they want to keep looking stylish.

One of the best features of the Denon surround sound receiver is that it comes with two outputs. When you connect this receiver to your television set, you can easily add other components such as a satellite receiver or a home theater system. If you connect it to your surround sound speaker set, you will have five.1 channel outputs to put together your own personal home theater system. Many people are deciding to stay away from the premium cable television providers and go with an all-in-one option like this receiver instead.

The Denon surround sound receiver has four channels of output which is a pretty good number for a receiver. I also really liked the fact that there were separate left and right rear channels for your movie and music tastes. If there are other devices connected to your receiver, such as your TV, speakers or a computer; they will all work properly when the receiver is hooked up to the same source. You can hook this receiver up to an extra TV or Blu-ray player if you wanted to. It truly is a remarkable piece of technology. If you are considering buying a home theater system and don’t want to spend too much money, then the Denon surround sound receiver is definitely one to consider.

  1. Excellent audio and video features. Others have already commented extensively on its audio capabilities, so I’ll focus on the networking issues. I, like the majority of those who have commented on the 7200WA’s network problems, have witnessed them. Denon recently released a software update that appears to have resolved this problem. It did not seem to be a hardware issue for me, but rather a software issue. If the update does not help, I was able to resolve these networking issues by changing the “IP Control” setting to “Off In Standby.” This can be found in the Network configuration section of the setup menu. This disables the unit’s ability to be remotely activated through network commands (i.e. iPhone AirPlay). Any time the 7200wa is switched on, it is forced to obtain an IP address. After that, the network functions still seem to work for me. This setting change worked for me on both wireless and wired connections.

  2. I waited and looked for a home theater device. I narrowed it down to Denon/Marantz, Yamaha, and Onkyo, all of which offered very attractive systems at the same price point. If you like movies and want a little more of a complete sound, the Marantz and its sibling, Denon, sounded the best to my ears. Once I’d decided on the Denon model, I went in search of matching speakers and settled on Energy’s tiny miracles, the Classic Take 5’s. Denon’s AVR model was on the discontinue list, so I decided to skip it in favor of the newer digital versions with more features. I quickly realized that I didn’t want to abandon my LP and other analog players, so I went with the 7200 to ensure backwards compatibility. Ok, luckily for me, the model was on sale because it was being phased out. The transaction went smoothly, and the delivery was excellent, with no harm to the outer box.

The AVR-X7200W (upgrades to “A”) is a powerful audio system. In addition to wi-fi access, I desired a physical link to the internet. This also has many HDMI-4K HD and 3D connections, so you can watch and listen to both older 3D movies and the new 4K blockbusters. The turntable attachment is excellent and not usually seen on modern home systems. The setup is simple and takes some time to perfect, but it is well worth the effort. The on-screen information is helpful, but you can get more information by plugging it into a computer or TV. I was shocked that the machine booted as the previous “7200W” iteration, but I continued to download and reboot to the most recent firmware updates. It’s a good thing I did because it came on as the “7200WA” with a few extra bells and whistles now open. I am quite pleased with the device’s features and tone. I purchased two 5.1 speaker sets in order to use the device as a 10.2. Yes, a home theater is superior to a nearby movie theater. In addition to satellite radio, the device includes internet radio.

I really like the sound of jazz and classical music coming from my components as they play through the Denon. There is no muddiness, and you can adjust the sound to be as warm or “crisp” as you want using the on-screen equalizers. The LPs sound fantastic. “DDD” Cds sound fantastic, almost as good as live. I’m still learning new things about this model and am pleased with its regular results.

  3. My Denon AVR-X7200WA was flawless for the first year and three months. Then it began to have occasional issues when starting up cold (no sound). I returned it to one of Denon’s super service centers, where they claimed to have repaired a problem with the right channel amp. The good news is that they returned it to me within two weeks. The bad news is that it failed right away, going into security mode (flashing red LED). I returned it, and Denon sent me a refurbished 7200W that had been upgraded to a 7200WA. I wasn’t thrilled at first, but it didn’t have any marks, dents, or other cosmetic flaws, so I gave it a shot. After a few weeks, this receiver is doing almost as well as the other (when it was working that is). I also have three other Denon AVRs (one 4311, two 4520s). The 4311 has an occasional problem with sound dropouts (which can be solved by power cycling), one 4520 has a very intermittent left surround faint pop on startup, and the other 4520 is flawless. I mention this because the consistency of the Denon AVRs could be higher, but when they work, I really like them.
