Denon AVR-S740H Receivers

The Denon AVR-S740H Digital Video Recorder is one of the best home theater and entertainment products that you can purchase. The AVR-S740H provides you with a large variety of features to enhance your viewing experience. It comes with two headphones, one for music and the other for movies, as well as an eight-channel sound system. The receiver is also very compact and it comes with a user-accessible front panel with easy to understand controls and menu options. There are separate zone controls for the television, theatre room, and home.

One of the best features of the Denon AVR-S740H receiver is its built-in programmable filter. This feature allows you to control your movie’s soundtrack according to your preference. You can add in different types of surround soundtracks such as true stereo or Dolby Digital surround sound. You can also manage and change the equalizer and bass level levels. There are various EQ features that allow the user to fine-tune the sound; you can adjust the low-muffin and high-muffin response of the front speakers to get the right sound.

In addition to the wide range of features offered by the Denon AVR-S740H receiver, it offers wireless connectivity with Bluetooth. The receivers come with the Denon Bluetooth remote control. The Bluetooth remote control is designed to work with almost all Denon AVR television models and it can also be used to control the Denon AVR-S740H receiver. The remote control has a large touch pad where you can choose your favorite sources and you can also browse through the complete selection of movies and TV shows. The receiver also integrates with the QuickTime movie store to help you enjoy unlimited access to movies and TV shows.

There are three main features that make the Denon AVR-S740H stands out from the other AV receivers. First, it offers High Definition Audio (HD Audio) through its HDMI port. This feature enables the AVR to decode and output high resolution audio via its HDMI port. The second feature is the ability to support High Speed Digital Video Connections (HSDCD). Third, there is the theater optimized surround back feature that allows the viewer to sit back and enjoy the movie while enjoying the surround sound effects.

One of the main advantages of using this receiver is its compatibility with popular home theater equipment. This model supports the most popular devices such as the HDTV, DVD player, LCD monitor, and speakers. It is also compatible with HDTV through its HDMI inputs. It can support High Speed Digital Video Connections (HSDCD) through its HDMI port. Other HDMI inputs allow the use of High-bandwidth Digital Video Encoding (HDCA) and High Definition Audio through its HDMI ports.

Another great feature of the Denon AVR-S740H is its Dolby Vision compatibility. With the help of the Dolby Vision feature, an image in a video will be displayed in two ways. The first way is through the source device which can be any digital source with HDMI input. The second way is through the monitor which uses the Dolby Pro Logic video decoding circuitry.

  1. I’ve had the Denon AVR-S740H for over a month now (bought it during Thanksgiving week) and I’m very pleased with it. It replaced the Pioneer VSX-532, which had HDMI glitches and a few other minor bugs that caused me to get rid of it. The Denon’s build quality is strong, and it seems like it will last for several years. The remote control is also good. The overall sound quality is excellent, if not better than any other receiver I’ve used in the past; I’m actually using 7.1 surround sound, which sounds fantastic. The Audyssey MultiEQ calibration is excellent and far outperforms Pioneer’s MCCAA calibration. The recent upmixers Dolby Surround and DTS Neural X breathe new life into stereo and 5.1 sources (so far I prefer the latter upmixer).

So far, HEOS Music is also very strong. And HDMI passthrough, including HDR10, is the most trouble-free choice.

The only complaint I have with the receiver so far is that the menu UI looks like old computer graphics from the early 2000s; Denon needs to step it up a notch right there.

In conclusion, the Denon AVR-S740H is unquestionably a decent entry-level 7 channel receiver, and it’s even better if you can get it at a discount from the retail price.

Maybe I’ll update this review after experiencing the two new immersive formats, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as Dolby Vision HDR.

  2. This is the third Denon I’ve bought, and they all have the same problem. The Audyssey microphone cord is much too short to be useful. The new Denon AVR-S740H includes a cardboard microphone stand, which is a good touch, but the cable is still too short. Make the microphone wire 100 feet long so that you can conduct an Audyssey calibration without purchasing an extension.

Another problem is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to link multiple receivers to your smart device through your home network at the same time. It would be ideal for the App to enable multiple Denon devices to connect at the same time, with the user deciding which one to power.

  3. I wish it had a 1/4″ input jack, but it does have an RCA input. The menu that appears on the television appears (what are the correct words?) Whatever you want to call it: super powerful, boring, easy, cost effective, and so on. It’s simple to use and functional, but those looking for oohh la la pizazz in their menu can be disappointed. I had an Onkyo 676, and while the menu looked better and the sound was slightly more strong, it died 4 months later and didn’t sound as good as the Denon. Why is this so? I have two speakers on bike racks in a small space that are upright/atmos but only have a 5.1.2 system. and sound engulfing and passing all around me It’s stunning. Even after I tried to tweak it, it performed better than the Onkyo. The sound/mic configuration for denon is a little more difficult (a few minutes and not much work) than for onkyo, but the result is a super great beautiful sound difference. I’m not sure what very expensive amps sound like, and my setup is in a small space, but it makes my speakers sing and my world bathed in the color of sound for the price. It will also look great in a mid-sized family room. I’m not sure in extremely large settings. I assume my Wharfedale – Diamond 10.2 speakers are the most difficult to push, and I use them in the rear. Denon has no qualms about pushing them. I can hear them easily as compared to the Onkyo, and I turned up the rear on the Onkyo and it still sounds blah. It’s fantastic. Yeah, the amp construction is fantastic. Only some YouTube clips, and only YouTube uses the center channel, but there are different settings on the amp, so what the evs.
