We’ve been jamming on Bassnectar’s 10th studio album, Noise vs Beauty, since it was released last month and we wanted to give you a quick recap.
This 15 track album takes listeners on a journey through many sonic soundscapes- a testament to Lorin Ashton’s decade-long drive to explore new musical territory & challenge the definition of electronic dance music. The album features many collaborators including our Colorado homie Jantsen, amongst others. Though it’s W. Darling who shines as the most prominent guest on Noise vs Beauty with her vocal stylings on the immensely popular single, “You and Me” – which has logged over 1,000,000 plays on SoundCloud alone.
TreeThugger team members have already been blessed with multiple opportunities to catch Bassnectar gigs this summer including a set at Summer Camp Music Festival, two wild nights at Red Rocks Amphitheater and a bangin’ set at Wakarusa- all of which were used as outlets to debut the new material before the album’s release.
With the explosion of mainstream acceptance of EDM it is refreshing to see that Bassnectar’s sound still manages to resonate so prominently throughout the live music community. Although Noise vs Beauty takes listeners on a musical journey that is quite different from previous releases (ie; Divergent Spectrum or Vava Voom), Lorin Ashton holds our respect for constantly pushing the musical envelope and doing it with precision production skills.
